The context

The need for project leadership training

The summit brought 120 employees from 12 regions to Santa Monica, with participants from Sports, Brand, Culture, and On-Premise teams. The program addressed how colleagues from different functions could lead projects together, including responsibilities, coordination, and opportunities beyond production.

My contribution

Initiating and designing the program

I initiated the summit, secured approval and collaborator buy-in, and built the majority of the program. I also presented much of the content and co-hosted the workshop with colleagues.

I drew on project experience to develop material that colleagues in different roles could apply, and recruited contributors to bring their own expertise to the sessions.

What it illustrates

Teaching judgment alongside process

The summit reinforced my interest in the person leading the project. Knowing a process is useful; assessing a difficult situation and deciding what to do next requires judgment and practice.

I’ve continued to develop that approach through other summits, workshops, and training programs.
